Ecological contracting

Ecological contracting often needs more than advice alone. It needs a team that can work safely on site, understand environmental constraints and deliver the physical works required to keep projects moving.

Oliver Brown Ltd supports clients with practical ecological works, habitat creation and site-based environmental measures. From protected species works and pond creation to habitat improvements and specialist access requirements, we provide the machinery, experience and site capability needed to deliver ecological work safely and efficiently.

Newt Fencing and Amphibian Mitigation Works

We can support ecological consultants, contractors and project teams with the practical installation of newt fencing and amphibian mitigation measures on commercial, infrastructure, quarrying, development and land management sites.

Newt fencing is often required where great crested newts or other amphibians may be affected by planned works. Depending on the ecological strategy for the site, fencing may be used to help exclude amphibians from working areas, guide movement towards capture points, protect retained habitats or support a wider translocation and mitigation programme.

Our team can assist with the installation of temporary amphibian fencing, drift fencing and associated site works, working to the project ecologist’s specification, method statement or licence requirements. Where needed, we can also support related habitat works, pond creation, pond lining, vegetation clearance, access preparation and groundworks.

With agricultural and compact tractors, Aebi tractors, diggers and specialist attachments available, we are well placed to deliver ecological fencing and habitat works across sites with challenging access, uneven ground or wider land management requirements.

Machinery and Equipment for Ecological Site Work

Many ecological projects require careful access, specialist machinery and the ability to work across difficult ground conditions.

We can use low ground pressure machinery where site conditions require a lighter-touch approach, helping us work across softer, wetter or more sensitive ground while reducing unnecessary disturbance.  Our equipment includes agricultural and compact tractors, Aebi tractors and attachments, diggers and a range of site machinery suited to ecological, habitat and land-based contracting works.

This allows us to support projects where access, ground conditions, vegetation, water bodies or protected habitats need careful management.

Supporting Contractors, Consultants and Landowners

We work alongside main contractors, ecological consultants, local authorities, developers, quarry operators and landowners to deliver ecological works as part of wider construction, infrastructure, restoration and land management projects.

Whether the requirement is a one-off ecological task or part of a larger programme of works, we can provide a practical contracting team that understands site constraints, programme pressures and environmental responsibilities.
